Before Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final first leg against Real Madrid, Declan Rice had not scored a free-kick goal in 338 games of club football. He had only taken 13 free-kick shots in eight years with West Ham and Arsenal, and the latter club had not scored a direct free-kick goal in the Premier League since September 2021.

Declan Rice stunned Real Madrid with two brilliant free-kicks to help Arsenal to a commanding 3-0 win in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie. Rice stepped up in the 58th minute to whip a fine set-piece past Thibaut Courtois that bent remarkably wide of the goal before curling back in. Then 12 minutes later he fired another into the top corner to put Mikel Arteta's men in full control ahead of the return game at the Bernabeu next Wednesday.

Even when the Chicago Cubs have nice things, they are reminded of the things that are preventing them from being in the class of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Life is good right now if you're Kyle Tucker. Despite a meaningless spring training slump, Tucker has opened the season with a strong case of why he should be considered one of the favorites to be the National League MVP. Along those lines, it's no surprise that Tucker was named the National League's player of the week.

When Arenal lost to West Ham United in February, ending a 15-game unbeaten streak that saw them fall 11 points behind Liverpool, Mikel Arteta would not countenance giving up on the league title. The superman of Midtjylland."Danish champions Midtjylland paid an emotional farewell on Saturday to Sweden midfielder Kristoffer Olsson, who was in the squad that won the club's first Superliga trophy in 2015 and, against all odds, carried their fourth onto the pitch on the final day of last season.

That was some team effort from Rangers. Worked their socks off and were really disciplined. Barely gave away any big chances but the terrible penalty call nearly robbed them. It was time that Kelly was given a chance given Butland’s poor season. What a way to stake his claim.

As bad a call as that was, Kelly’s save is just as good. Superb awareness to leave his feet trailing and steer it over.

That’s such a bad penalty decision. Sterling is jumping for the ball as it comes over his head. When he touches it with his hand it is almost exactly as the player brings it down. It changes zero and Athletic are so disadvantaged by it they put the ball in the net.
