Early indications of a weakening polar vortex could send Arctic air into North America next month. Much of the U.S. is overdue for some cold air and winter-like temperatures as December 2023 will be one of the warmest on record for many cities. The term 'polar vortex' has been used over the last decade as a way to describe very cold temperatures moving into the U.S., usually causing ice and snow and dangerously cold wind chills.

October numbers are in for temperatures and precipitation, here's how we stacked up. While there were some brief cold snaps, October was warmer than average by about 2.3 degrees. It is now the 13th warmest October on record.

ARLINGTON, Va. (7News) — A new video from Assateague State Park shows rough waters from Hurricane Lee Friday. The video shared by park officials on social media shows foam piling up on the beach as Lee churns off the Atlantic Coast. According to Maryland’s Department of Natural Resources, there are red flag conditions with the possibility of dangerous rip currents at the state park. Officials said there are no lifeguards on duty and are warning visitors not to swim.
