Dwayne McLemore [email protected] There is intrigue in youth because, well, there is nothing yet to criticize. Which is why after a South Carolina football season where the Gamecocks’ best pass catcher by far was a tight end (Joshua Simon — 40 catches, 519 yards, 7 TDs), the bevy of young faces in USC’s wide receiver room has drowned out any disappointment from last year.

Via South Carolina Athletics We learned in May of the progress South Carolina is making on the renovation plans for Williams-Brice Stadium. In a story by AL.com that lays out the Fiscal Year 2024 recruiting budgets for SEC teams, South Carolina’s bar is dwarfed by a number of other schools. The numbers were compiled by Freedom of Information Act requests and every SEC school aside from Vanderbilt — which is a private school and doesn’t have to grant FOIA requests — is included.

It concluded with a first-year head coach being asked about his job security and if he was planning to fire any of his assistants. South Carolina baseball just lost 24-2 against Auburn. How historic is that? It was nearly the worst margin of defeat in the modern era of Gamecock baseball, but USC fell by 23 against Arkansas in 1997 (30-7). The all-time record is a 31-run loss to Lafayette in 1899
