    EL CENTRO— The El Centro City Council unanimously approved a Free Swim Admission Program and youth swim lesson scholarships for the 2025 summer season at its regular meeting on May 20. The 2025 Summer Free Swim Admission Program was inspired by the vision of Mayor Sonia Carter, whose idea to provide equitable access to the pools for El Centro youth has helped eliminate barriers and promote community wellness throughout the summer.

    IMPERIAL— The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) celebrated the accomplishments of student leaders, coaches, volunteers, staff, and donors with a banquet Friday evening, May 16, at Valley Christian Church. “Tonight is a celebration of what God has been doing through FCA this past school year,” said Juan Benito, area director of Desert Counties FCA. In the Year 2025, FCA worked alongside 118 teams, passed out 385 Bibles, reached 2,835 athletes, and ministered to 163 coaches.

    IMPERIAL— Turning Point Men’s Home celebrated its 30th anniversary helping men with life-controlling problems, Friday evening, April 11, at the Imperial Fairground’s Casa de Mañana Building. The festivities included a banquet, testimonies, an alumni introduction, praise team music, fundraising, and a silent auction. Norman Chandler, director and pastor of Turning Point Men’s Home, welcomed the alumni, board of directors, volunteers, family members, and guests.
