Sydney Mimer died while serving his 18-year prison sentence (Image: Met Police) A paedophile who raped a young girl in east London has died in prison. Sydney Mimer, 77, died on March 26 at HMP Littlehey where he was serving an 18-year prison sentence. In the mid-2000s Mimer had carried out attacks on a girl aged seven to nine at the time at an address in Poplar and in a vehicle he owned. The abuse came to light in 2016 when the girl confided what had happened to her mother.

Nexhat Ukehaxhaj,  57, of Dunkeld Road, pleaded guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child. The details of the charge state that he sent messages to who he believed to be a boy aged under 16 discussing meeting the child for sex and asking for nude images.

Cher Maximen was fatally stabbed while at the Notting Hill Carnival’s family day with her young daughter (Image: Met Police) A man has been found guilty of murdering a Cher Maximen in front of her three-year-old daughter during Notting Hill Carnival’s family day. Shakeil Thibou, 20, stabbed Ms Maximen, 32, in the groin as her toddler daughter was close by on August 25 last year.

In the early hours of August 4 last year, a Vietnamese man and woman were on a first date in Manchester City Centre when a man sprayed UV paint in their eyes to disorientate them before stabbing them both.

In the dock: Our round-up of what's going on in your local court (Image: Newsquest) The following cases involving Havering residents were heard at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court between March 27 and March 3: Teddy Clarkson, 19, of Rosebank Avenue in Elm Park, admitted driving an Audi S3 dangerously in Rainham on February 16 – namely on the A13, Wennington Junction, Ferry Lane, Malan Square and Elm Park. Clarkson was given an eight-month sentence suspended for 18 months.
