Tyler Dane Napier, age 30, of Clarkesville, Georgia passed away, far too soon, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Georgia on Monday, November 25th, 2024. Tyler was born on March 19th, 1994, in Gainesville, Florida. He attended Habersham Central High School and North Georgia Technical College. Tyler truly had a heart of gold. He will be remembered as being caring, compassionate, empathetic, selfless, forgiving, and for making a profound impact on us all.

The North Georgia Technical College (NGTC) horticulture program is hosting the college’s annual holiday plant sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Dec. 2-5, at the Clarkesville campus greenhouses. The sale will feature red, white, and pink poinsettias; Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter cacti; and other winter boughs. Cards, cash, and checks are accepted, and all sales must be made in person. Everyone is encouraged to come early for the best selection and variety. Poinsettias are $8 each.

This event features a holiday market on the Cleveland Courthouse Square and lighted Christmas parade through Downtown Cleveland. The Holiday Market will be on the Cleveland Courthouse Square 12-7 pm, and the Lighted Parade will begin at 6pm.

Phillip “Flip” Presley, age 57, of Murrayville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2024. He was born on April 18, 1967, in Gainesville, Georgia, to the late Sara Seabolt Presley and the late Leon Grady Presley. Flip is survived by his son, Ryan (Haley) Presley of Murrayville; siblings Elvis Presley, Ronald Presley, Mitchell Presley, Shannon Presley, and Sherry Presley; and his cherished grandchildren, Rylan Bruce, Sarah Presley, and Kayden Presley.

(Cleveland)- The White County Board of Commissioners has approved SPLOST funding that will cover the cost of replacing the handicap ramp and add some hand railing at the Historic White County Courthouse in Cleveland. Ken Payne, White County Maintenance Director told the board that the ramp has deteriorated over the last several years and the rails need to be updated to meet ADA requirements.

James was born on August 11, 1938, in New Rochelle, New York, to the late James Leslie MacDonald and the late Marie Shambert MacDonald. (Cleveland)- New Georgia Labor Department figures released today show White County’s preliminary unemployment rate remained the same in October compared to the revised 2.4 percent revised rate in September. The labor department said in October the labor force in White County was 18,056, 17,619 were employed while 437 were unemployed. Georgia Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson said that unemployment rates increased in nearly all regions of the state during October.
