    Mr. Leroy Dorsey Thomas, age 84, of Cleveland, passed away Monday, April 14, 2025. Mr. Thomas was born in Murrayville to the late Jim and Marjorie Thomas. Leroy was a longtime resident of Cleveland, moving here in 1971. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandkids and family. He worked in maintenance for Jim Young Construction. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Mildred Thomas; daughter, Sharon K. Hudson; and sisters, Inez Clack and Wriler Cross.

    (Cleveland)- The White County Board of Commissioners has approved SPLOST funding that will cover the cost of replacing the handicap ramp and add some hand railing at the Historic White County Courthouse in Cleveland. Ken Payne, White County Maintenance Director told the board that the ramp has deteriorated over the last several years and the rails need to be updated to meet  ADA requirements.

    (Cleveland)- New Georgia Labor Department figures released today show White County’s preliminary unemployment rate remained the same in October compared to the revised 2.4 percent revised rate in September. The labor department said in October the labor force in White County was 18,056, 17,619 were employed while 437 were unemployed. Georgia Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson said that unemployment rates increased in nearly all regions of the state during October.

    Aaron Allen Patterson, age 41, of Clarkesville, Georgia passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024. Aaron was born February 20, 1983 in Anthony, Kansas. Aaron graduated from Chaparral High School in 2002, where he excelled in cross country and track, demonstrating his determination and passion for sports. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army, embodying his deep commitment to serving his country.
