VICTOR — At around 8 a.m. local time on Oct. 1, Skip Horner stood atop the highest peak in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro. It was his 33rd time at the top of the mountain in 42 years. It was also his last. After yet another successful trek last fall up one of the more than 1,000 mountains Horner has summited, the Bitterroot Valley resident retired.
