MISSOULA — If momentum counts for anything, Missoula Loyola's Elise Munding and Jefferson's Ben Werner are certainly players to watch heading into the State B golf tournament next week in Shelby. Five days after earning medalist honors in the Anaconda Invitational at Old Works, Munding repeated the feat in Western B divisionals Tuesday at Indian Springs in Eureka. A fourth-place finisher at state last May, Munding won by four strokes with a 9-over score of 80.

MISSOULA — Lillian Boyd likes to compare her discus prowess to puzzle solving. She's not the top performer in the state because she's a burly, overpowering force. It's quite the contrary, actually. "My favorite thing about discus is it's more about your technique and how you feel mentally and less about how big you are or how fast you can run," said the Seeley-Swan junior, who owns the best mark in the state this spring, regardless of class, at 139 feet, 8 inches.
