A cold front is bringing a cold, northwest wind through the area on Friday and temperatures are set to fall. Lake-effect snow is expected in parts of midwestern Ontario, and a travel advisory has been issued for Bruce County. The London region could see some flurries develop Friday morning as well, with a high of zero degrees, feeling like minus 7C with the wind chill in the morning. Friday night, flurries will be ending near midnight then cloudy overnight with a low of minus 12C.

A freezing rain warning is in effect for parts of midwestern Ontario. Environment Canada has issued a warning for Grey and southern Bruce counties, northern Perth, northern Huron, and northern Wellington county. A low-pressure system is developing along a stalled front south of the Great Lakes. The low is moving into the area Wednesday and freezing rain is expected in midwestern Ontario starting Wednesday afternoon.

Light rain moved into the region Friday ahead of a low-pressure system that is strengthening over the American central plains. The chance of rain will ramp up Friday night in London, Sarnia, St. Thomas, Woodstock, and counties along the northern shoreline of Lake Erie. A steadier rain will develop Saturday morning as the strengthening system moves through the Ohio valley.

A cold front is heading into southern Ontario Thursday night ending the extended warm summer-like temperatures. The average maximum daily high as we kicked off the first week of October was 26.7 C. All-time heat records were broken in communities across Ontario. In early October, the normal daytime high is close to 17 C. A major shift in the weather pattern is underway, and unfortunately for some, just as the holiday weekend arrives.

With the official start of autumn only days away, Mother Nature has one final blast of summer in store for the Forest City. A late surge of summer warmth will move into southern Ontario Wednesday, with daytime highs set to reach the mid 20s, feeling close to 30 with the humidex on Thursday. The warmth will hold as fall officially arrives at 2:50 a.m. on Saturday. A surface area of high pressure will continue to slide off to the east, and a ridge will extend back over the area.

Tuesday is the transition day from comfortable summer weather to a blast of heat and rising humidity beginning on Wednesday. The high Wednesday afternoon is forecast to reach 30 C and it will feel like the mid to upper 30s.
