    USA Today released a new ranking of the best open-air music venues in the US, as part of its ongoing 10best series. The Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington was ranked No. 3, coming in just behind New Jersey’s PNC Bank Arts Center and upstate New York’s The Pavilion at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. The Gorge has long been a popular destination for music festivals and outdoor concerts in the northwest.

    The U.S. Department of Homeland Security wants to participate in a reality TV show where immigrants compete for a fast-track to citizenship, according to an initial report from The Daily Mail. The Wall Street Journal also reported Friday that DHS is seriously considering the idea. The show, titled “The American,” would load up a special train with contestants and ferry them around the country to compete in regional cultural contests.

    In recent years, Bend has established itself as one of Oregon’s premier outdoor music destinations. Hayden Homes Amphitheater, located on the Deschutes River in Bend, is a popular venue for outdoor summer concerts. The amphitheater will host 50 shows in 2025, including concerts from Sting, Brad Paisley, The Black Keys, Alabama Shakes, Leon Bridges, The Lumineers, James Taylor, Neil Young and more. Local favorite Pink Martini will play a 30th anniversary tour show there in June.

    Durant Olive Mill in Oregon’s Willamette Valley wine country is one of the top 10 olive oil makers in the world. That’s according to an annual ranking of olive oil producers compiled by industry trade publication the Olive Oil Times. The Times says its “World Olive Oil Competition has compiled data on over 10,000 brands from 38 countries since 2013.”Durant is Oregon’s only commercial olive oil maker. The mill is at Red Ridge Farms in Dayton alongside Durant Vineyards, in the heart of wine country.

    Pop rock sister act HAIM has announced a show at McMenamins Edgefield in September as part of the venue’s popular Concerts on the Lawn music series. The ‘I Quit’ tour will also visit Seattle in September. The band’s fifth album will be released on June 20. Details and tickets for the show, and the full concert series, can be found below. The Flaming Lips and Modest Mouse will play the final two dates of their 2025 co-headlining tour at McMenamins Edgefield.
