Officers from the PSNI's collision investigation unit investigating a fatal road traffic collision in the Causeway Road area of Bushmills on Wednesday, 11th June, have charged a 66-year-old woman with causing death by careless driving. She is due to appear at Coleraine Magistrates Court on Friday, 13th June. As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland has condemned a third consecutive night of “completely unacceptable” disorder – resulting in six further arrests and officers injured. Yesterday evening, Wednesday 11th June, in Ballymena, officers once again came under sustained attack with multiple petrol bombs, heavy masonry, bricks and fireworks thrown at them.

A PACKED Portrush Town Hall provided the setting for a very special tribute event. The memorable night celebrated Steve Cawte who died last August from complications following a heart transplant operation. Steve was the Editor of Impspired Press, based in Lincoln, a publishing house which has very strong ties with writers all along the North Coast area, from Ballycastle to Donegal.

A SINGING group, set up last September to provide people living with dementia and their carers with the opportunity to have fun through music, recently performed at The Cottage care home in Coleraine. Age Concern Dementia Choir (ACDC) meets every Monday at St Andrew’s Church in Ballysally from 2.30pm to 3.30pm.

FOUR friends are climbing seven peaks in a day later this month to raise vital funds for two life-changing causes. On Saturday, 14 June James McDowell, Alistair Taylor, Kingston Rajiah and William McCandless, a team from Coleraine’s St. Patrick’s Church, are taking on the Mourne Seven Seven’s challenge for Water Aid and Age Concern Causeway. Kingston lives in Portstewart while his three hiking companions across the beautiful but brutal Mourne Mountains live in Coleraine.
