Dundee University workers have started another strike as they protest proposed job losses at the institution’s top forensic science research unit. Angry staff members have walked out for five days starting from now as the future of the institution’s acclaimed Levenhulme Centre remains at risk. The university’s proposals to axe the leading forensic research hub would see 24 employees losing their jobs.

UHI Perth aviation students say they had the “rug pulled from under our feet” after the collapse of a training firm linked to the university. Air Service Training (Engineering) Limited (AST) went into administration last month and no definite buyer has been found. Concerned students hoping to become aircraft engineers and pilots now fear their time spent at UHI Perth could be worthless. AST was founded in 1931 and has trained more than 190,000 engineers and pilots.

The Kirkcaldy nurse suing NHS Fife over her suspension following a trans changing room row has launched legal action against her own trade union. Sandie Peggie is already embroiled in a tribunal with her employer after she told trans doctor Beth Upton she felt uncomfortable at the two sharing a women’s locker room. Now she is suing the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) over claims the medical union has failed to help in her lengthy legal battle against NHS Fife.
