Doctors are warning older patients of the dangers of cannabis poisoning. Research from the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) found Canada saw a rise in emergency room visits of people over the age of 65. "The cannabis that you smoked in the 1960s when you were 20 years old, is very different from the cannabis that's available now," Dr. Cyril D'Souza from Yale University School of Medicine said.

A state trooper was killed on I-84 near Exit 31 in Southington on Friday afternoon, according to Connecticut State Police. Police say Trooper First Class Aaron Pelletier, of Troop H-Hartford, was standing outside his cruiser conducting a traffic stop when he was sideswiped by a red pickup truck and killed. They also say the driver fled the scene, but officers were able to later arrest them near Exit 39A after the truck broke down. Their identity and charges will be posted at a later time.

According to AAA, this Memorial Day weekend on the roads is expected to be the busiest since 2005. AAA says it's expected to be the busiest at the airports in decades. About 3.5 million are set to fly nationwide, including 40,000 Connecticut residents, according to AAA.

The Stamford community held a fundraiser to benefit a local woman with ALS. Patti Flynn was diagnosed with the disease last June, and desperately needs a wheelchair-accessible van, bathroom renovations and nursing care. The beloved Stamford resident says she was touched by the fundraising effort. "I was aware of the event, but didn’t expect so much love in one room," Flynn said. Flynn and her family say they're committed to raising awareness for everyone battling the deadly disease.
