Senator Richard Blumenthal is calling for a federal probe following the recent listeria outbreak in Boar's Head meat products, stemming from a plant in Virginia. The outbreak is responsible for nine deaths and more than 50 hospitalizations nationwide. "The outbreak of listeria in Boar's Head meat products should have been caught, could have been stopped by the United States Department of Agriculture,” said Blumenthal.

New Canaan police: Missing Stamford man found dead in the woods•Jul 9, 2024, 3:46 PM•Updated 1 hr agoA missing man was found dead in New Canaan early Tuesday morning, according to New Canaan police. Officers say the Stamford man was reported missing late Monday night. He was last seen working in New Canaan at a house under construction. Just after midnight Tuesday, Stamford and New Canaan police found him in a wooded area. He was pronounced dead by a paramedic on scene.

A Bridgeport man who was shot on Iranistan Avenue last week died on Wednesday, police say. Police said 26-year-old Jevoun Rodney was shot in the head and succumbed to his injuries. The shooting happened last Wednesday in broad daylight, according to police reports. “The Bridgeport Police Department's thoughts and prayers go out to Jevoun's family and friends,” the department wrote on Facebook. Friends and family held a vigil on Iranistan Avenue on Wednesday to show respect for the Rodney.
