A state trooper was killed on I-84 near Exit 31 in Southington on Friday afternoon, according to Connecticut State Police. Police say Trooper First Class Aaron Pelletier, of Troop H-Hartford, was standing outside his cruiser conducting a traffic stop when he was sideswiped by a red pickup truck and killed. They also say the driver fled the scene, but officers were able to later arrest them near Exit 39A after the truck broke down. Their identity and charges will be posted at a later time.

A Bridgeport couple will be celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary in June. News 12's Angelica Toruno sat down with the couple to hear more about their love story and the secret to making it this far. Josephine Foti was 16 years old and Frank Foti was 21 years old when they met at a party. "I went to my best friend's birthday party," said Frank Foti. "It was my cousin,” said Josephine Foti. "After I got out of the service, and I met her there...and that was it,” said Frank Foti.

The Greenwich Japanese School in Riverside will be honoring Japanese culture for Asian & Pacific American Heritage Month through a schoolwide dance performance. Students are in the rehearsal stages of the performance, which will be presented in front of their parents on Sports Day. It’s a traditional day in Japan when students showcase multiple sports, including a dance. The school originally planted roots in Jamaica, Queens, in New York back in 1975 but moved to Greenwich in 1992.

The worldwide employment company Indeed announced its plans on Monday to lay off 8% of its workforce. The company has headquarters in Stamford and in Austin, Texas. There is no word yet on how many employees will be laid off at each location. CEO Chris Hyams shared a message that went out to all of the company's global workers. He said about 1,000 people are losing their jobs companywide:"While the reductions touch many groups and regions, they are not across the board like last year.

A celebration was held on Monday in Hartford for what would have been the 105th birthday of former Gov. Ella Grasso – the first female governor of Connecticut. She ran as part of the Democratic party nearly 50 years ago in 1974 and served as the 83rd governor of Connecticut until 1980. Officials gave remarks at the Connecticut State Library, looking back on the impact that Grasso left.
