Boroughs, townships, and cities in Butler County received more than $8 million through the state’s Municipal Liquid Fuels Program this year. For municipalities across Pennsylvania, the annual liquid fuels allocation is a key revenue source in each year’s budget, as the funds are often put aside for major infrastructure improvements. Funds are redistributed from revenue collected from the state’s Liquid Fuels Tax to assist municipalities in paying for infrastructure projects.

The county commissioners on Wednesday approved a $277,000 replacement for the old, failing camera system at the prison. The unanimous approval came after Warden Beau Sneddon said the existing system is old, shuts down and lacks enough data storage for new digital cameras. “We’ve been having a lot of camera problems. The system shuts off. It just can’t anymore,” Sneddon said.

Leadership Butler County is hoping fans of “Mobsters, Molls and Marinara” will join them for some fun and to raise some cash. For the past nine years, the leadership class has hosted a murder mystery dinner show to fund its chosen charity project. This year’s event features a 1920s theme and takes place from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Atrium, 1031 New Castle Road, Franklin Township.

BUTLER TWP — Eight new inductees will join the Butler County Sports Hall of Fame at the organization’s 58th annual banquet at 6:30 p.m. April 26 at Founders Hall on the campus of Butler County Community College. The inductions of Joella Baker, Jeff Christy, Larry Dillon, Joe Lewandowski, Art Monteleone, Tom Phillips, Scott Stoner and Melissa Sopher Williams will bring the amount of individual hall of famers to over 400.
