OKLAHOMA CITY (KSWO) - April 19, 1995 is a day which sets heavy in the hearts of many Oklahomans. 168 lives were lost in the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City and next year will mark 30 years since the devastating Oklahoma City Bombing. In partnership with the Oklahoma City National Memorial Museum, KSWO is counting down those days by remembering those who lost their lives during the tragedy every night. On day three, we remember Richard A. Allen.

Rick West (R-Heavener) held an interim study looking at colleges and universities in the state and how they can keep competitive against out-of-state higher education institutions. The study came about after a constituent reached out to West stating their child opted to leave Oklahoma to attend college. “A college across the state line offered them too good of a deal to turn down,” West said. “It had nothing to do with academics.

DUNCAN, Okla. (KSWO) - The seat for Oklahoma House District 50 officially opened up after current Rep Marcus McEntire declared he was not running for reelection. After the June 18 primary elections saw none of the candidates running for the seat receiving a majority of the votes, the race officially headed into a runoff with the top two candidates being placed on the Aug. 27 ballot.

LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) - The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is accepting applications for their 74th academy until Nov. 30. Applicants don’t need to have any prior experience in law enforcement to apply. The 74th academy is set to start in May 2025 and will run for approximately 20-weeks. Training will involve both physical and mental training. LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) - The deadline to vote in the runoff elections on Aug. 27 is fast approaching. These elections include the Lawton mayoral race as well as the CIP extension vote. The deadline to register is Friday, Aug. 2. It’s also not too late to think about requesting absentee ballots for the November presidential election. WALTERS, Okla. (KSWO) - Walters First Baptist Church held a Back to School Bash from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday, July 29, to help families in the area prepare for the back to school season. There were free clothes, shoes and supplies for your student to take on their first day back. In addition to that, free sports physicals and vaccines were also available.

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KSWO) - Country singer Kevin Fowler entertained fans in Wichita Falls and helped raise money for North Texas and Southwest Oklahoma volunteer fire departments in the process. Fowler, who is best known for his hit, “Beer, Bait & Ammo” put on a show at the Warehouse. He teamed up with the Wichita Falls Area Community Foundation (WFACF) for the fundraiser, which benefits 24 local departments.
