CACHE, Okla. (KSWO) - On Wednesday, Aug. 7, the City of Cache is hosting a giveaway to help students prepare for school. To help with the struggles some residents face to get school supplies for their children, donors raised about $5,000 to buy school supplies like backpacks, notebooks, pens and pencils for around 250 students. “So, luckily the community gave back with a bunch of the school supplies that we’re giving away.

LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) - Tuesday, Aug. 6, the Mobile Wellness Clinic will be open to you and your family in Lawton. The clinic will be open between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. at M28 Ministries. It’s a full clinic service with no up-front costs. Immunizations, pregnancy tests, blood pressure screenings and more will be available to anyone who goes. It’s open to everyone and walk-ins are welcome. Insurance is accepted, however, it’s not required.

LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) - While the City of Lawton’s 123rd birthday is on Aug. 6, the city will start celebrating a couple of days early at the McMahon Memorial Auditorium. The oldest Lawtonian, Dr. Bill Jolly, will be cutting the city’s birthday cake and that will be followed by a performance of “Mattie Beal: The Story, The Courtship.”After the cake cutting and the show, a few outstanding individuals and organizations will be recognized at an awards ceremony as part of the birthday celebration.

LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) - The deadline to vote in the runoff elections on Aug. 27 is fast approaching. These elections include the Lawton mayoral race as well as the CIP extension vote. The deadline to register is Friday, Aug. 2. It’s also not too late to think about requesting absentee ballots for the November presidential election. If you know that you’re going to be away at college or just want to mail in your ballot, the deadline to request an absentee ballot is Oct. 21. Copyright 2024 KSWO.

WALTERS, Okla. (KSWO) - Walters First Baptist Church held a Back to School Bash from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday, July 29, to help families in the area prepare for the back to school season. There were free clothes, shoes and supplies for your student to take on their first day back. In addition to that, free sports physicals and vaccines were also available.
