CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A housing program to support families struggling to find an affordable place to live in Charlotte might soon be looking for a new home itself. The lease is up at the Heal Charlotte campus on Equipment Drive near Sugar Creek Road. Heal Charlotte has been operating out of the Baymont at Wyndam Hotel since 2024. Families in need had the opportunity to rent a room for $750 dollars a month while completing a program designed to support a path to independent living within 90 days.

MONROE, NC. – The majority of Monroe City Council voted against a plan to put drag shows in the same category as strip clubs. The controversial proposal would have classified drag shows as adult entertainment while giving police more control to regulate the events. Monroe Mayor Brian Burns says he introduced the proposal to classify drag shows as adult entertainment to protect children.

WADESBORO, NC – A person who says they have seen police body cam video of the night a Wadesboro Police K9 was shot and killed is speaking out. The person speaking out talked with the dog’s former owner Josh Harrington. Harrington provided us with a recording of their phone call. Wadesboro Police used K9 blitz in a suspect chase on April 2nd that started in Anson county and ended in Montgomery County. The dog was shot and killed on the scene by police.

WADESBORO, NC – Wadesboro residents are demanding answers after a police K9 was shot on the job during a chase across county lines on April 1st. Josh Harrington says breeds and imports police k9s. He donated K9 Blitz to the Wadesboro police department in January he says the chief of police said Blitz would only be used for drug searches. “He told me they were broke and couldn’t afford a k9,” Harrington said.

CHARLOTTE, NC – Local and federal law enforcement say a fight between a 15-year-old boy and girl on the Ardrey Kell High School campus was not a hate crime. The incident in question happened back on March 7th. A week later, the girl’s family held a press conference in front of the school showing photos of her injuries. They claimed the boy targeted her because of her religion.
