SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The man accused of sexually assaulting a teenage boy last month in Springfield appeared before a judge for a dangerousness hearing on Wednesday. The judge ruled that 53-year-old Ahmed Ahmed will be held without bail until trial. That order comes after prosecutors argued Ahmed’s release would pose a threat to public safety. The Springfield Police Department stated in a news release that on Friday, May 30, officers received a report of a sexual assault.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The conclave begins Wednesday. This comes after Pope Francis died at 88 years old back on April 21. Cardinal electors will be tasked with selecting the 267th Pope of the Catholic church. With the conclusion of the official mourning period for Pope Francis comes a shift in focus to the conclave–who will be the next pope? While there are a few “top contenders,” 22News dug a little deeper into the process itself, which is rooted in tradition from over 2,000 years ago.
