SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A jury has convicted a man of first-degree murder in the stabbing death of a Chicopee woman. Kaysone Walters was found guilty in the killing of 25-year-old Brianne Boiselle back in August of 2021. On August 11th, Boisselle was found on Baldwin Street in Springfield with several stab wounds and died from her injuries.

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The U.S. Department of Labor and the Trump administration announced that they will pause operations at Job Corps centers nationwide, including in Chicopee. This comes after major cuts to the federal government. The Department of Labor said in a press release that the pause of all centers will happen by June 30th. The program has been operating at a $140 million deficit since fiscal year 2024. The deficit is projected to reach $213 million in fiscal year 2025.

TURNERS FALLS, Mass. (WWLP) – The Turners Falls Fire Department was sent to an alert of high levels of carbon monoxide in one family’s home. The family was starting their morning as usual on Thursday when their carbon monoxide detector went off, alerting the residents to exit their home. They immediately called for emergency services, and after the Turners Falls Fire Department checked the home with a gas meter, dangerously high levels of carbon monoxide was found.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Three people were arrested in Springfield after a police chase in a stolen vehicle led to the seizure of an illegal firearm. The Springfield Police Department states that officers observed a stolen vehicle on Genesee Street on Thursday. A traffic stop was conducted a short time later on Albany Street. The driver, who was identified as 18-year-old Zachary Hardy of Gardner, tried to escape the police and crashed into a police cruiser with two other passengers inside.

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A fire in an apartment building on School Street in Chicopee serves as a reminder how important working smoke alarms are in your home. The Chicopee Fire Department states that crews were sent to School Street after a fire alarm was activated. When crews arrived, they found a small electrical fire in the hallway, which is the hallway that is the main exit for multiple occupied apartments. There was minimal smoke damage to the hallway.
