IDAHO FALLS — Thursday marked the grand opening of a new “state-of-the-art” courtroom in Bonneville County, making justice more efficient in eastern Idaho. District Judge Steven Boyce and Trial Court Administrator Tammi Whyte spoke before the ribbon cutting, describing the importance of the new courtroom and its new technology, which they hope will bring justice in a newer, more modern way.

POCATELLO — A 30-year-old Pocatello man was arrested after a woman told police he had forcibly raped and beaten her. Rob Reyes Chavez is charged with felony rape with force or threat and felony domestic battery with a traumatic injury. On June 3, around 5:05 p.m., a woman contacted the Pocatello Police Department to report that Chavez, who was known to her, had just “forced himself on her, punched her in the face, and then left the area in a large red pickup truck,” according to court documents.

IDAHO FALLS — An Idaho Falls man with a pending murder charge is back in jail after allegedly drinking alcohol against his pre-trial release rules. Robert Lange is charged with the second-degree murder of 50-year-old Alejandro Paredes-Hurtado, after he was reportedly beaten and left to die on the sidewalk on Oct. 19. RELATED | Man who turned himself in for murder allegedly told police he ‘wanted to fight’ Lange was arrested on Oct. 22 after turning himself in to the Idaho Falls Police Department.

UCON — A man who died due to injuries sustained during a rollover crash has been identified. Bonneville County Coroner Shante Sanchez has identified the man as 76-year-old Allan Daugaard of Box Elder, South Dakota. UCON -– A 76-year-old man has died after a rollover crash Wednesday afternoon near Ucon. According to a news release from Idaho State Police, officials are investigating a single-vehicle crash that occurred around 12:28 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. Highway 20 at milepost 316, east of Ucon. A 2023 Nissan Rogue was driving westbound on US-20 when it went off the right shoulder and struck a tree. The driver, a 76-year-old man from Box Elder, South Dakota, died at the scene.
