Total Wine & More is approved to build-out in the OfficeMax that closed March 22 in River City Marketplace in North Jacksonville. The city issued a permit June 26 for Retail Contractors of Puerto Rico Inc. of Marine City, Michigan, to renovate the 20,067-square-foot store at 13275 City Square Drive at a project cost of almost $1.7 million. Core States Inc. is the architect. Kimco Realty Corp. is the landlord. Franklin Street is the leasing representative for Kimco.

When you need a lava lamp and you need it now, your options are increasing. The city issued a permit June 26 for Anchor Quality Marine Construction Inc. of Oldsmar to renovate 2,911 square feet of space at 4611 River City Drive, Unit 113, in St. Johns Town Center for Spencer’s, the novelties shop that says it provides “everything you didn’t know you needed.”The project cost is $287,964. The Town Center map shows Spencer’s between Target and Ashley furniture next to GNC.

The city issued a permit June 26 for a $1 million site-work project for the closed, fire-damaged Hardee’s along Merrill Road in Arlington. The building is being remodeled after the fast-food restaurant sustained fire damage from a roof replacement during what the permit says was in summer 2024. Tim Young Construction Inc. of Jacksonville is the contractor. Hardee’s is being renovated on 1.1 acres at 9111 Merrill Road, east of Southside Connector and Interstate 295.

It’s not the usual suspects, so the question is which grocery store might be interested in opening a large supermarket with an adjacent liquor store in the Atlantic North shopping center in East Arlington. Publix and Winn-Dixie say it’s not either of them. And few, if any, other grocery chains with liquor stores are in the size range of the one looking at the shopping center – a 59,000-square-foot supermarket with an adjacent 3,200-square-foot liquor store.

While the company says there are no immediate plans, ABC Fine Wine & Spirits appears to be preparing to transition its Spring Glen and Englewood area store into a Dollar Tree. The city is reviewing a permit application for conversion of the 10,035-square-foot store at 5440 Beach Blvd. for Dollar Tree, the Chesapeake, Virginia-based chain of discount retailing.
