The final designs for the new Ontario Place public space have been unveiled. Premier Doug Ford announced the plans in a press conference in Toronto on Tuesday. A modern, boutique-style condo unit has sold for a huge loss in Hamilton. The condo is the latest to sell at a loss as this sector of the real estate market struggles. The average condo apartment price was down 6.4 per cent to $683,413 last month in the Greater Toronto Area, according to the May TRREB report. Condo sales also declined 25.1 per cent year-over-year. A Toronto condo sold for a $143,000 loss in June. Hamilton is seeing a similar downturn.

A collision has shut lanes on Highway 403 in Mississauga. Reports indicate a pedestrian was hit on the busy highway Wednesday morning. All westbound lanes at Mavis Road were closed for a police investigation around 7:30 a.m., OPP said on X. Both OPP and Peel Regional Police were on scene. Man killed in Brampton shooting identified; suspect vehicle burned | inBrampton

A man shot in Brampton on Friday has been identified as police search for suspects. Sharnpreet Singh was shot at his workplace, an auto body shop in the Rutherford Road South and Glidden Road in Brampton just before 6 p.m. on Friday, June 20, Peel Regional Police said. He was taken to a local hospital in life-threatening condition but later succumbed to his injuries. The suspects in the shooting fled in a vehicle.
Man drowns in a popular swimming quarry in Ontario

One man has died after being pulled from a popular Ontario swimming hole. Emergency crews responded to a report of a swimmer in distress in Elora Quarry on Tuesday at approximately 6:30 p.m., OPP said. The two-acre limestone quarry encircled by cliffs is located in Elora, a community north of Guelph. The quarry is open for swimming during the summer and is operated by the Grand River Conservation Authority. The man was pulled from the water and transported to a local hospital.

As the heat wave continues across southern Ontario, a new record was set in Mississauga. The temperature hit a high of 35.8 C around 5 p.m. at Toronto Pearson Airport on Monday, according to Environment Canada records. The current heat record for June 23 was 32.8 degrees and it was set back in 1983, Environment Canada meteorologist Geoff Coulson told The Canadian Press yesterday. Environment Canada told news outlets it was also the hottest temperature recorded in the city since July 13, 2016.
