Northern lights could be visible in parts of Ontario and across Canada this week. A strong geomagnetic storm could bring the Aurora Borealis to areas across Canada and some parts of the U.S. Wednesday and Thursday, according the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Space Weather Prediction Center. The lights were also forecast for Tuesday night but overcast conditions likely hampered views in many areas.

A shocking animal cruelty investigation in Mississauga exposes flaws in Ontario’s animal protection laws, according to an animal rights organization. This week Peel Regional Police announced the details of an animal cruelty investigation involving puppies. Police said dogs between eight and 10 weeks old were found discarded either deceased or badly mutilated and left for dead in the Dundas Street West/Mavis Road area between this past December and March.

A person wanted in connection with a murder investigation in Sudbury could be in southern Ontario. A 21-year-old man was found dead in a Black 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 on Lansdowne Street in Sudbury on April 6, the Greater Sudbury Police said in press release. Police found the man after a call for a suspicious vehicle in a garage. The coroner’s office later confirmed the man died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds. Police are not releasing his name out of respect for the family’s wishes.

Mississauga residents have a new choice for Mexican food. Molkagtez Mexican Cuisine just opened a new location at 89 Lakeshore Rd E. in Port Credit. The space was previously home to the vegan eatery, Community Restaurant, which permanently closed earlier this year. The first Molkagtez location in Parkdale, Toronto is popular with many good reviews on Google. It is known for its festive atmosphere and molcajetes (stone) dishes.
