Friday’s high of 16 C could drop down to a chilly low of 5 C in the evening, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada. But on Saturday it will warm up again to 22 C with mainly sunny skies. Wind gusts of up to 40 km/h are expected in the afternoon. A low of 5 C is expected in the evening.

A Mississauga restaurant has made it on a top 100 list for brunch and lunch in Canada. Mother’s Day is coming up this weekend and a new survey from online restaurant reservation service OpenTable found 50 per cent of Canadians plan to dine out this weekend. Nearly three-quarters (71 per cent) of Canadian moms prefer to celebrate Mother’s Day with a family brunch or lunch with their children present, the survey found.

A goat caused multiple traffic hazards on Ontario highways this week. “We’re not ‘kidding’ you – this little guy caused quite the disruption…” OPP said in a post on X Thursday morning. The lone goat was spotted along Highways 416 and 401 near the U.S. border, south of Ottawa, on Wednesday night and Thursday morning, police said. Police said they responded to “multiple traffic hazard complaints” as the “baaaad boy” ran onto the highways.

A beloved, long-running restaurant has closed in Mississauga. Thai House Cuisine 2 at 261 Lakeshore Rd. E. has closed, according to reports. There is a sign on the door stating the business has closed, according to a post on Reddit, and the restaurant is marked as temporarily closed on Google Maps. INsauga.com’s multiple attempts to contact the restaurant were unsuccessful. Customers lamented the loss of the restaurant, which had been in the spot for many years.
Driver 'miraculously' uninjured in Ontario crash

A two-vehicle crash left one truck badly damaged and burned in Ontario. Emergency crews responded to the crash at Bruce Road 3 and Brant-Elderslie Town Line, near Paisley, a small community southwest of Owen Sound on Friday morning, OPP said on X. A photo from the scene shows a pickup truck damaged by fire. “Miraculously no injuries,” the OPP said. Police said one driver faces fail to yield charges. The roadway was closed for the emergency crew response but was expected to reopen shortly.

One person lost over $100,000 in a Ponzi-style investment scam circulating in Ontario. In January, police started an investigation into the new Ponzi-style investment scam circulating in Essex County, the OPP said in a press release on May 9. A resident reported they lost approximately $109,000 in the investment scam, OPP said. The scam involved investing in a business related to the sale of alcohol, police said. No charges have been laid and the investigation continues.

One person was injured in an overnight shooting at a business in Hamilton. Officers responded to a report of a shooting at the business in the Main Street East and East Avenue South area at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Friday, Hamilton Police said. Multiple shots were fired during the incident and one man suffered from gunshot wounds, police said. The man, reportedly 50 years old, was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
