    TEXARKANA, Ark. -- Six local pilots and aviation mechanics on Friday received the Federal Aviation Administration's highest award in recognition of their lengthy, successful careers. The Little Rock FAA Safety Team presented the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award to three pilots, the Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award to one mechanic, and both to two awardees. The ceremony took place in the hangar at Texarkana Regional Airport that is home to TC's Department of Aviation.

    TEXARKANA -- The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory in effect through 7 p.m. Friday for all of South Arkansas and North Louisiana, as well as a portion of Northeast Texas. Heat indexes of 105 to 109 are forecast, with high humidity and temperatures reaching the upper 90s. Heat illness is a significant threat in these conditions, and NWS advises people to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

    I listen to a lot of podcasts. Like, a LOT a lot. And the only one that consistently makes me LOL literally is "The Neighborhood Listen," now in its eighth season. The premise: A pair of residents of the fictional town of Dignity Falls interview their neighbors, based on posts to the also-fictional Neighborhap app. The posts are real, taken from neighborhood social media apps such as Nextdoor. Everything else is a silly improvisation.

    TEXARKANA, Texas -- With a signing ceremony Wednesday, Texas A&M University-Texarkana and Japanese electronics corporation Maxell Ltd. entered a partnership that will bolster the school's high-tech education and research programs. An audience of about 50 watched as TAMUT President Ross Alexander and Maxell executive Tatsuya Yamamoto made remarks and then signed documents to make the gift and research agreement official.
