    TEXARKANA, Texas -- Three local organizations were recently given grant funding by a foundation. The T.L.L. Temple Foundation, out of Lufkin, Texas, gave $2 million in funds to the City of Texarkana, Texas. The funds were portioned out to The Assembly Line, REDI, Set, Move and Pitch It Texarkana. According to Assembly Line director Dr. Brandy Eldridge, the entrepreneur hub received $1.25 million, while Pitch It Texarkana received $150,000 and REDI, Set, Move $600,000.

    TEXARKANA -- Texarkana Animal League's pet of the week is Edith, a young female calico cat. She was surrendered by her owner due to their dogs not liking her. Edith is very shy, but sweet and loving of affection once she trusts someone. She has been declawed, so she will need an indoor home that doesn't let her roam. Edith would do best in an environment where she can come out of her shell on her own time. She is up to date on her vaccines, is spayed and has a microchip. Edith's adoption fee is $135.

    WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Local Congressman Nathaniel Moran recently introduced a bill in an attempt to reduce taxes on tips and overtime. Moran, a Ways and Means House Committee member, introduced the "No Tax on Overtime" act, which he hopes to codify. The legislation, which Moran attributes to President Donald Trump, would allow for a tax deduction up to 300 hours of qualified overtime compensation per taxable year.
