MINNEAPOLIS — Fresh from a trip to South Africa, a Minnesota-based organization is weighing in on the impact of the cuts to U.S. foreign aid. And the leaders of say the impact is already dire. “They are telling me that without a question people will die without the USAID funding,” said Ed Luterbach, Chair of the organization’s Board of Directors. Arm in Arm in Africa itself does not receive federal funding but works with partners in South Africa that do.

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — The dismantling of USAID and freeze on foreign assistance hits close to home, according to longtime aid organizations based in Minnesota. "It's an agonizing waiting game," Dr. Simon Adams, president and CEO of the Center for Victims of Torture, told KARE 11's Raya Quttaineh last month after the federal government implemented a 90-day pause on foreign aid as it reviews various programs.

MINNEAPOLIS — Families and others affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia often refer to the current advancements in research as reason for the “Era of Hope.” So, on Saturday, Sept. 21, thousands of families and others who know the disease will celebrate that hope at the Walk to End Alzheimer’s at Target Field. KARE 11’s Karla Hult will once again emcee one of the nation’s largest fundraising walks, featuring 7,000 to 10,000 attendees, along with Gabi Del Moral of Telemundo Minnesota.

LAKE ELMO, Minn. — A local filmmaker is paying homage to a beloved drive-in movie theater by, what else, screening a movie. On Tuesday, Justin Atkinson of Justin Films will screen ”Bobby’s Intermission” at the Woodbury 10 Theatre. And while the movie – filmed at the Vali-Hi Drive-In in Lake Elmo – already premiered to a trio of sold-out shows last fall, Tuesday’s screening will benefit Basic Needs in Cottage Grove.
