HANFORD, Calif. (KFSN) -- A major effort is underway to protect the trees in Hanford while planting seeds for future generations. For the first time in Hanford's 134-year history, a major million-dollar tree assessment project will take place. Through mid-July, inspectors will look at the city's 20,000 trees,Some are nearly a century old. "We are looking for tree species, tree size, and the health of the tree," said Hanford Parks and Community Services Director Brad Albert.

MEXICO (KFSN) -- Newly obtained video allegedly shows Kern County escaped inmate Cesar Hernandez running down a street in Tijuana, shortly after authorities say he killed a police commander during a shootout in Mexico on Wednesday. The video shows him quickly changing into reflective clothing and continuing to walk away. Another security camera allegedly shows Hernandez crossing a highway, still wearing that disguise.

TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- A confessed but not convicted killer, Erika Sandoval, continues to testify in her own defense. The court was back in session Monday as she stands trial for the murder of her ex-husband Daniel Green. "Did you immediately regret shooting and killing Daniel?" the defense attorney asked Sandoval. "Of course," replies Sandoval. "Do you still regret shooting and killing Daniel?" asked the defense attorney. "Every day," Sandoval asked.

VISALIA, Calif. (KFSN) -- It's the end of an era as an empty parking lot sits on North Plaza Drive in Visalia. The Joann Stores Distribution Center officially shut its doors on Monday. VISALIA, Calif. (KFSN) -- Lovers Lane in Visalia is getting a facelift with Caltrans' rehabilitation project from the Highway 198 intersection to Houston Avenue and down to McAuliff Street. Locals say the improvements are welcome as the heavily traveled road has been in need of some care.
