Three sites in Northern Oklahoma have been added to the National Register of Historic Places, according to a joint statement from the Oklahoma Historical Society and State Historic Preservation Office. The John and Hazel Adams House in Vinita was designed by notable architect Bruce Goff and constructed in 1961. The house has grey limestone, concrete walls and recessed triangular windows. Goff is known for his often eclectic tastes in design and has other works throughout the state.

One of the other new sites is outside of Jay, Oklahoma in Delaware County — the Delaware School, District No. 64.

Investigators found a project manager and other workers employed by Rocking L Dozer and Land Management LLC, out of Caney, could have prevented a trench collapse that fatally injured one of their workers at a McAlester worksite in May. According to a news release from the Department of Labor, workers were putting down gravel around a newly replaced sewer line in a 10-foot deep excavation when the trench collapsed.

A handful of marijuana businesses were shut down in Kay County last week. The Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority and law enforcement in the north central Oklahoma county worked together to respond to complaints about medical marijuana businesses in the area. Five marijuana businesses were shut down after the two groups conducted several routine compliance inspections, citing illegal activities such as untraceable and untagged marijuana.

A new type of living option is coming to Oklahoma City’s housing market. The city’s first “horizontal apartment” community is called Trulo Homes Quail Village near Quail Springs Mall in North OKC. The “build-for-rent” homes are built together on lots with high-end amenities - like a clubhouse, fitness center, lawn maintenance, gated community and “resort-style” pool.
