Crews arrived on scene to a working fire in the attic and they quickly knocked it down. No injuries were reported. Authorities did not reveal the location of the fire.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office and Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue released a joint statement about the cause of the Davis Fire on May 8. The Davis Fire was reported on September 7, 2024. The fire originated in Davis Creek Regional Park, about 15 miles south of Reno. Prolonged above-average temperatures and dry conditions prevailed on the day of the fire, along with winds gusting between 30 and 40 mph. Full containment was declared on September 25, 2024.

RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — The man who was killed in a shooting in downtown Reno on May 1 has been identified by the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office. Oscar Henderson, 34, of Sparks was shot near the intersection of 4th Street and Virginia Street between the Silver Legacy and Circus Circus. He pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities say the manner of death was homicide and the cause of death was a gunshot wound of the torso.

I-80 westbound is closed at Vista Blvd. on Tuesday morning because of a crash, according to the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol (NHP). Drivers should expect delays. Authorities say the crash involved a jeep and a semi truck, and the semi was carrying sheet metal which spilled onto the highway. Authorities say all traffic is being diverted off the Vista off-ramp, but drivers are able to get back on the interstate immediately. There is no estimated time of reopening.

De Lecs Smith, 26, has been charged with open murder, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit and battery with a deadly weapon. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) received 911 calls of a shooting on Telegraph Street between Carson Street and Valley Street around 9:45 p.m. on April 30. On arrival, deputies located a victim in the street outside of a bar. Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The victim has been identified as a man who was born in August 1978.

Egg-citing morning on I-80 as big rig flips, leaving crews to crack down on cleanup

An "egg-spensive" crash may leave drivers shell-shocked early Thursday morning. A big rig hauling eggs flipped into the center median on EB I-80 at Donner Gate around 4:50 a.m. on May 1, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Truckee. CHP Truckee officials said in a social media post that with egg prices the way they are, this might be the most expensive mess they've seen all year. There were only minor injuries in the crash.
