OTSEGO COUNTY, Mich. — Michigan State Police are sharing details after some people in Otsego County got an alert Monday warning them to take cover due to an earthquake. In a post on X, MSP Seventh District shared that people in the Vanderbilt area got the alert on their phones. They say there were temporary cell towers registered from California placed in the town, and California was experiencing an earthquake at the time.

BATTLE CREEK, (Mich.) — Battle Creek Police say they made an arrest after a fight they estimate involved 60 people. It happened Thursday around 3:30 p.m. near downtown, on W Michigan Ave. between S Cass St. and N Washington Ave. Police said while on the way to the call about the fight, dispatch informed them someone had also fired a gun. Police say once they arrived, they found out the suspect believed to have fired the gun had taken off.

SAUGATUCK TWP., Mich. — The Allegan County Sheriff has put out an alert involving a missing woman. They are looking for 67-year-old Nancy Eichler-Oconnell. She was last seen Thursday near her home in the Saugatuck Twp. area, around 1:45 p.m. Deputies say she does not have a car, and did not take her phone. Family has not been able to reach her either. Eichler-Oconnell also has a heart condition.

ALGOMA TWP. — The Kent County Sheriff's Office says crews are working a house fire in Algoma Township. The first call to Pine Island Dr. NE came in around 4 a.m. Monday. Crews say they found a home engulfed in flames. KCSO says a 34-year-old man was able to get out of the home after waking up to smoke alarms. Now firefighters are continuing to put the fire out, and are looking for anyone else that may have been inside the home.

The Sheriff's Office is asking people to stay off the Kalamazoo River right now due to high water levels, cold water temperatures, and downed trees from last week's storms.
