    PALO, IA (KWWL)- A Linn county firefighter is recovering in the hospital after an early morning fire. The home owner was also taken to the hospital for injuries. The homeowner, 43-year-old Scott Lane, was rescued by bystanders. The fire happened around 5:30 Wednesday morning on 2nd Street. One of the two dogs did not survive. Lane, and the firefighter, are expected to be ok. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

In response to CRPD, COE College went on lockdown at 7:45 a.m. According to campus security, that lockdown was lifted at 8:45. At this time, not many details are being released. Police say they are still investigating the situation.

This comes as a vehicle caught fire just a couple miles west of the Williamsburg rest stop between Exits 211 and 205. According to the DOT camera, the involved vehicle seems to be heavily damage. This is a developing story.
