Mike Macdonald has a tough job following Pete Carroll in Seattle as he heads into his first NFL Draft as coach of the team with a lot of issues to address. Geno Smith is seemingly the guy at quarterback in Seattle for the foreseeable future. He has rebuilt his career since moving to the Seahawks, which has allowed the team to develop in other areas. Heading into the 2024 NFL Draft, the Seahawks need to look at their offensive line.

The Washington Commanders are able to hit the rest button this offseason. They have hired defensive specialist Dan Quinn as their new coach and own the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. In theory, it puts them in the perfect place to draft the guy they feel is their franchise QB, which also gives Quinn the chance to pick his own guy under center. He will never be left wondering how things could have been if he’d been able to draft a top-end QB.

Bryce Young didn’t have the best rookie season with the Carolina Panthers. The franchise traded an awful lot of draft capital away to move up and select him with the first pick in 2023, but he was outperformed by C.J. Stroud, to name just one other rookie quarterback. The goal for the Carolina Panthers in the 2024 NFL Draft is to ensure that Young has a better roster around him for the season, while it’s also important that he's protected more by his offensive line.

Detroit’s run to the NFC championship game in 2023 was the story of the season. The work Dan Campbell has done to turn that franchise from a consistent doormat to a serious contender that is set up to continually reach that stage of the postseason is tremendous. For all the incoming coaches who complain they never truly get their QB either through the draft or free agency, Dan Campbell has smashed that fallacy.

It would be fair to say that the New Orleans Saints are still living in the difficult aftermath of life without Drew Brees. The Saints have yet to secure a long-term quarterback, and will go into the 2024 season with Derek Carr under center once again. New Orleans and Dennis Allen aren’t going to get one of the elite quarterback prospects in this draft, and there isn’t necessarily a player who will be better than Carr in the later rounds.
