Two fitness instructors say they're honoured to have been recognised for the special haven they've created for women wanting to get fitter and stronger. Natalie Higley and Nicky Stevens, from Caversham, previously worked in beauty and finance, have set up the Strong Women's Club, after they bonded over a kettlebell class back in 2018. The club has won in the "Fitness and Sport" category in the Small Business Awards.

The Swan in Windsor is a community-owned pub run by Mickey Foden-Andrews who says staff have to think "outside the box" to keep the pub running. It comes after analysis of government figures by the property data company Altus Group showed more than one pub a day closed its doors for good in the UK in 2024.

An ambulance service has changed its call procedures after the death of a woman in her 80s who called 111 and said she was unable to move from her chair. Sandra Millard, 81, from Southcote Lane, Reading, was suffering from sepsis, infected leg ulcers as well as heart and kidney disease in May 2024. Corner Robert Simpson said after her initial call a clinician tried to call her back four times, but Ms Millard's phone was engaged and no ambulance was sent.
