UTICA, NY (WKTV) - Utica's Heart Run and Walk 2025 is in the books. As of Saturday afternoon, the total raised is $425,937. You can still make a donation at UticaHeartRunWalk.org. Representatives with the local chapter of the American Heart Association tell us they will continue counting and have a new total on Monday. UTICA, NY (WKTV) - Utica Police are investigating a fatal crash on Broad Street. One person was killed and another person was seriously hurt. The crash involved just one vehicle. It happened around 8 a.m. Sunday. Police and rescue crews were on the scene minutes after the crash. A portion of Broad Street in Utica is shut down as police investigate. UTICA, NY -- Utica Police have made an arrest in connection to the Nov. 8 shooting on the 1500 block of Howard Avenue. Investigators with the GIVE Unit arrested Hylek Lacy, 18, of Utica in connection with firing multiple rounds into a home where multiple people were sleeping, including several young children. Police said investigators used surveillance camera video and other evidence to obtain suspect information to pinpoint the location of the discarded weapon following the shooting.

UTICA, NY (WKTV) - Utica Police shared numbers that put Friday's violence in the City of Utica in perspective from one year to the next. Police say there were 26 non fatal shootings in total in 2023. In 2024, there have been 22 so far. Police had eight homicide investigations in 2023. Five of those homicide investigations were shooting deaths. So far in 2024, police tell us there have been eight homicide investigations. All eight of those homicide investigations are shootings.

This week is your chance to make a difference for the pets of Asheville and their families. Hurricane Helene struck Asheville on Sept. 27. More than a month later, the organizations that were assisting with the animal efforts on the ground have demobilized after assisting thousands of animals. The need for families of pets is still there.
