A new pilot program is intended to protect school children -- and punish bad drivers -- by installing school buses in the School District of Philadelphia with new technology. On Tuesday morning, school district officials are expected to unveil details about a new pilot program that will see 20 buses throughout Philadelphia fitted with camera that can ticket drivers who pass a school bus once the bus stop arm is extended. It's illegal to pass a school bus that has its stop arm extended.

Caribbean Cuisine has served the Southwest Philadelphia community for more than 25 years, but, on Monday morning a driver, who told police they lost control of their vehicle, slammed into the eatery and caused a devastating fire. According to police, the incident happened just before 2:30 a.m. when a vehicle slammed into Caribbean Cuisine, near the intersection of Baltimore Avenue and South 61st Street after the driver lost control of it.

A man was killed and the teen who tried to rob him was injured after an attempted armed robbery led to a shootout inside a store and then a crash involving the fleeing suspects and a SEPTA bus Wednesday night in West Philadelphia, police said. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. along 40th and Brown streets. Investigators said an unidentified man in his 30s or 40s was playing a video game inside a convenience store when he was confronted by two robbers.
