GRAFTON — Mike Riley of Cedarburg decided earlier this year to explore the Lakefield Cemetery, located just north of Lakefield Road on Port Washington Road in the town of Grafton. The small cemetery includes the final resting place of several hundred souls dating as far back as 1850 and as recently as the 1990s. What Riley found on his walk came as a surprise. OZAUKEE COUNTY — What started as an idea of former Ozaukee County Supervisor Joe Dean to create an Honor Flight hub in Wisconsin has now spawned four other flights throughout the state. The Stars and Stripes Honor Flight was founded in Ozaukee County in 2008. Today, there are the Badger Honor Flight in Madison, Freedom Honor Flight in La Crosse, Never Forgotten Honor Flight in Wausau and Old Glory Honor Flight in Appleton.

SAUKVILLE — A $5,000 donation from the Cedarburg Lions Club recently helped the Ozaukee Food Alliance successfully complete the $1.1 million capital campaign for its new, permanent location. "Our new home, which was the result of so many in our community coming together to help us meet the need in Ozaukee County, has been a complete game-changer for us and for those we serve," said Sara Pashak, the nonprofit’s president of the board.

GRAFTON — It can be frightening and lonely for a senior who is hospitalized. Being hospitalized for any length of time disrupts any patient’s daily life. This is especially difficult for older patients. Normal routines are interrupted; days are long; older patients need assurance that the hospital experience will be successful.
