HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Congress has overturned a rule meant to protect consumers from excessive overdraft fees, and the change in law is awaiting the President’s signature. The rule, established by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFBP), targeted large banks and credit unions, capping how much they could charge someone who overdrew their account. The U.S. Public Interest Research Group (U.S. PIRG) is warning the change could have the biggest impact on people living paycheck to paycheck.

(WHNT) — Several communities are mourning the loss of three men who died Wednesday in a boat crash on Lewis Smith Lake. Joey Broom of Snead and John “Kelly” Clark of Cullman were two of the three men who were killed. Friends and colleagues of Broom and Clark tell News 19 these two men were kind and special. Broom is a familiar name to many people in his hometown of Snead, and one people say won’t soon be forgotten.

DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) — United Launch Alliance (ULA) manufactures its heavy-lift rockets in a plant in Decatur. The company’s CEO, Tory Bruno, invited a News 19 crew inside their 1.6 million square foot rocket factory to explain how ULA is planning for the future of space travel. Sitting inside the facility is the last Atlas V that will be manufactured in Decatur. After decades of launches, ULA is retiring the Delta IV and is on its final launches of the Atlas. They will be replaced by the Vulcan.
