At Tuesday night’s annual electors meeting, Town of East Troy residents cast advisory votes on four potential paths forward. The option with the most support — with 128 votes — called for an ordinance to ban wake-enhanced surfing.

MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Common Council wants the local election commission to provide answers regarding ballot shortages that affected numerous polling locations during April’s spring general election. On election night, voters across the city contacted TMJ4 News to report wait times of more than an hour at locations that ran out of paper ballots. Some voters were redirected to express voting machines while supplies were replenished.

MILWAUKEE — Cheers and applause filled the auditorium at Vincent High School as elementary students from Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) competed in the district-wide spelling bee. Among the excited students was Jhamar Scott, a fourth grader from Grantosa Drive School, who returned to the stage determined to win after placing second in last year’s third-grade competition. “I took time out of other things I wanted to do so I could win today,” Scott said.

WAUKESHA — The inpatient psychiatric unit at ProHealth Waukesha Memorial Hospital closed on April 7, citing a low patient census as the primary reason for the shutdown. Ryan Mills, a local youth sports coach, sought help at Waukesha Memorial last September after experiencing a severe psychological episode. “I drove myself to the ER and said, 'I can’t do this tomorrow,'” Mills recalled.
