SADSBURY TOWNSHIP — A Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal is being called in to help find the cause of a Sunday morning farmhouse fire near the borough of Conneaut Lake. No one was injured when fire swept through the second floor of the Leslie Allen residence shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday, according to Chief John Treacy of Conneaut Lake Volunteer Fire Department. The home, at 11561 State Highway 285, is located in Sadsbury Township, about 1.5 miles south of the borough.

County commissioners are expected to act on a proposed Crawford County Subdivision and Land Ordinance at their voting meeting Wednesday. If approved, the county ordinance would not take precedence over any local municipal subdivision and land ordinance already in place in a city, township or borough. There are 22 municipalities in the county that don’t have their own subdivision and land development ordinance. The ordinance does not cover the actual use of a property.

It’s been a busy time at two local Meadville chocolate makers. Easter is a best-selling holiday for both Stefanelli’s Candies and Casey’s Ice Cream & Candies with each racking up sales in chocolate rabbits, chocolate eggs and other Easter-themed goodies. “I’m out here for every holiday,” Jessica Harding of Meadville said as she was buying Easter candy at Casey’s shop in Vernon Township.
