City officials, friends and family gathered Thursday morning to say goodbye to former Columbus Councilor Judy Thomas, who died last month shortly after leaving city council. Thomas died on April 19 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta after being treated for a blood infection, the Ledger-Enquirer reported. Thomas served four terms on council before stepping down from her seat in March.

Lately, I've been craving some good ramen after watching too many cooking videos on YouTube showing tonkotsu ramen. I decided to stem my cravings by going to one of my favorites that recently went through a rebrand. Red 8 Kitchen was formerly known as Mizu Ramen before being rebranded after it came under new ownership. I used to DoorDash ramen from Mizu whenever I was not feeling well, but this was my first time actually being in the restaurant.

One man is dead and another is injured following a shooting Monday afternoon at a Columbus apartment complex, the Columbus Police Department announced Monday evening. Police said officers responded around 2:39 p.m. Monday to the 3700 block of Cusseta Road at the Avalon Apartments. Responding officers found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to police. Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan identified the victim as Chastin Hunter, 33, of Columbus.
