A vehicle chase Sunday night in Columbus involving Georgia State Patrol and an SUV ended after the chased vehicle collided with two other vehicles, the Georgia State Patrol told the Ledger-Enquirer. An email from GSP said a state trooper conducted a traffic stop on a GMC Yukon for a defective taillight on Manchester Expressway near Armour Road. GSP said the Yukon initially stopped but then fled the scene, causing a pursuit to begin.

The Columbus Council voted Tuesday to pay the attorney's fees for the Columbus Consolidated Government's human resources director. The council voted 6-4 to approve the payment of $37,705 to the Robbins Law Firm of Atlanta and the reimbursement of $5,000 to CCG human resources director Reather Hollowell for payments she made to Robbins Law Firm.

A single-vehicle accident Monday in Phenix City has left one person dead, according to Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr.The motorcycle crash occurred on U.S. Highway 80 East in Phenix City, Sumbry said. Sumbry told the Ledger-Enquirer a male in his 20s was pronounced dead on the scene at 11:20 a.m. The identity of the man wasn't released, Sumbry said, to give the family time to identify the victim. Coroner releases identity of man who died in Phenix City motorcycle accidentA single-vehicle accident Monday in Phenix City has left one person dead, according to Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr.The motorcycle crash occurred on U.S. Highway 80 East in Phenix City, Sumbry said. Sumbry identified the victim as 26-year-old Nathaniel Haddix of Fortson, Georgia. Haddix was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:20 a.m., according to Sumbry.

The criminal charges against a former Columbus Consolidated Government employee have been dismissed due to the statute of limitations being exceeded, according to a court hearing Monday morning. Yvonne Ivey, former revenue manager for the city, faced two charges of simple battery after a Muscogee County Sheriff's Office investigation into the CCG finance department, the Ledger-Enquirer reported.
