The Columbus Clingstones debuted to a sellout crowd in Synovus Park Tuesday, defeating the Pensacola Blue Wahoos 3-0 in a game that saw several first-ever occurrences for the new team. Much fanfare was made about the Clingstones' first home game: the team scheduled a postgame fireworks show, fans got commemorative tickets, and Columbus Mayor Skip Henderson joined Atlanta Braves legend Tim Hudson as two of the several people who threw ceremonial first pitches.

The Columbus Clingstones officially kick off a new era of baseball in the Fountain City Tuesday with the team's first home game at Synovus Park. The Clingstones, a Double-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves, welcome the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, a Miami Marlins affiliate, who will be in town for a four-game series. First pitch is expected at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday. The Clingstones' ticket listing for Tuesday's game encouraged fans to join them as the team makes history, playing its first home game.

A Columbus doctor and a Eufaula man have been sentenced in the largest bird mount trafficking cases, the U.S. Department of Justice announced. The DOJ said Dr. John Waldrop of Cataula was ordered to pay a $900,000 fine and serve three years of probation. The fine is one of the largest for an case, according to the DOJ. Toney Jones, of Eufaula, Alabama, was sentenced to six months of probation, the DOJ said.

Veteran closing pitcher Craig Kimbrel will join the Columbus Clingstones roster for their first home game in the newly renovated Synovus Park, according to a news release from the team. This will be Kimbrel's first appearance with a Braves Double-A affiliate since 2009, according to the release.
