Monday's mostly clear skies should be ideal for viewing of the total solar eclipse. Since Southern California is not in the path of totality, expect a maximum view around 11:12 a.m. with the lower half of the sun hidden. As the day continues and we regain a full view of the sun, we'll also see winds switch directions. Offshore flow will bring in drier air from the north and widespread breezy conditions through the afternoon.

A seasonably cool weekend continues with daytime high temperatures reaching into the mid 70s. A troughing pattern increases onshore flow for Sunday, which means breezy westerly winds by the evening. Those winds will begin to shift directions on Monday to establish an offshore flow. As low pressure continues to move east, high pressure will build, resulting in a long-term warm up. 90s are expected by Wednesday.

A trough of low pressure is bringing impactful weather to SoCal this weekend. A First Alert Weather Alert has been called due to gusty, potentially damaging winds throughout Riverside County. A Wind Advisory has been issued for the Coachella Valley through Sunday night. Gusty west winds capable of blowing down tree limbs and creating difficult travel conditions are expected to continue through the weekend.
