APPLETON — When a judge asked a 63-year-old man convicted of robbing the same bank twice if he may attempt another robbery in the future, the man expressed uncertainty. Martin Schiedermayer, 63, was sentenced April 17 to five years in prison and seven years of extended supervision for robbing a downtown Appleton bank in January. Schiedermayer robbed the same bank in 2011. In both cases, he said he wanted to go to jail to avoid being homeless. Attorneys for both the defense and prosecution said Schiedermayer made the robbery as least threatening as possible, but the judge emphasized the crime's seriousness.
