Through their Patient Partner Program, I met Fiona, who, at 7, was in recovery from a medulloblastoma, diagnosed when she was 22 months old.

I had just received a St. Jude artificial aortic valve, and the ticking sound in my chest symbolized a new chapter in my life.

I began running in my last year of high school, initially to improve my soccer skills, but it soon became a source of solace and clarity.

I am running the Boston Marathon for Dana-Farber in her memory and to continue the fight against one of the deadliest and least-funded types of cancer.

The World Figure Skating Championships held a tribute and remembrance Wednesday for the members of the skating community — including six from the Skating Club of Boston — who died in a plane crash in Washington, D.C. in January. “Their spirit remains in every edge traced on this ice, in every moment of triumph, and in every heart that beats for this sport,” said Ben Agosto, American ice dancer and 2006 Olympian who hosted the ceremony.

The 2025 World Figure Skating Championships take place this week at TD Garden, from Wednesday, March 26, to Sunday, March 30. Only second to the Winter Olympics, this is the most prestigious event for the sport — and it will be a strong determining factor for the 2026 games in Milan less than a year away. A total of 200 skaters from 50 countries are competing for medals across four categories: men’s and women’s singles, pairs, and ice dance.
