    JESSAMINE COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A nonprofit in Jessamine County is sounding the alarm amid a nearly two-year-old legal battle with the City of Nicholasville and Jessamine County School District. The Jessamine County Homeless Coalition claims the school district sold them chemically contaminated land without disclosure. Johnny Templin leads the JCHC. He tells WKYT they purchased 1.39 acres along North Broadway back in 2019. They had dreams of building a multi-unit housing complex.

    RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) - One week after WKYT went inside Liberty Place in Madison County after allegations of mistreatment, Kentucky Department of Corrections has begun referring new clients to the facility. Earlier this year, DOC removed 46 women from the center, pending an internal investigation. Karen Atkins with Kentucky River Foothills Development Council which owns Liberty Place, tells WKYT the state has accepted their corrective action plan; however their curriculum is still under review.

    LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - It’s been more than a decade since the Kentucky Auditor has launched an investigation into Fayette County Public Schools. It was 2014 when then-Auditor Adam Edelen announced a special examination into the district’s finances. It was prompted after reports of an alleged $20 million discrepancy in the budget. Back then the district served 40,000 students, had almost 2,900 full-time teachers and 2,500 student support and admin staff.

    MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Earlier this year, the Kentucky Department of Correction removed nearly four dozen women from an addiction recovery center in Madison County. Officials said they were investigating allegations of mistreatment. A month later, they renewed their contract with the facility. Yet many questions remain. Kentucky River Foothills Development Council owns Liberty Place Recovery Center for Women in Richmond. They’ve been around since 2008.

    LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - After public outcry, the General Services Administration has reversed its decision to close down more than 30 U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration Offices. Several of them are in Kentucky. Locations include Barbourville, Prestonsburg, Harlan, Hazard, Beaver Dam and Madisonville. Those leases were set to be terminated by the Department of Government Efficiency. According to a memo obtained by Bloomberg Law, there are still four mine offices set for closure.
