NORTHFIELD, VT – The Norwich women’s hockey team has a new head coach. They named Justin Simpson the program’s new head coach on Wednesday. He becomes just the third head coach in the program’s history. He replaces former Norwich player and head coach, Sophie Leclerc Doherty, who stepped down following her 6th season behind the Cadet’s bench, to spend more time with her young family. PLATTSBURGH, NY – Vermont State University Castleton would take both games of a double header at the Plattsburgh State Cardinals on Wednesday. Castleton started the first game with a solo home run to go up 1-0, only to give up three straight runs to the Cards. A lead Plattsburgh held until late in regulation, but the Spartans would get the game tied up and win it in the 8th inning, 5-4. Castleton would also take game 2, 6-3 in 5 innings of play. Flag Football Openers in Section 7

PORT HENRY, NY – The Section 7 Flag Football season openers kicked off at Moriah and Plattsburgh High School. The Moriah game was the first game of the season and debuted with the first ever Section 7 *defending champs*, Northeastern Clinton. Their game with the host school Vikings would be tight throughout the end of the game. The Vikings would win the game 31-25. Back in Plattsburgh, the Hornets hosted the Saranac Spartans. Saranac would have a lead from beginning to end, and double up the Hornets.
