    Compared to last year, this year's Oklahoma tornado count is a lot more tolerable. Look at the tornado count in Oklahoma through the end of May last year (below). During that 2-month span of April/May, Oklahoma saw 108 tornadoes, with 8 fatalities and 118 injuries. 2024 tornadoes through May.jpgFast forward to this year, where so far Oklahoma has seen 31 tornadoes, with 1 fatality and 2 injuries.

    Rain and storm chances will be high through Wednesday night, so take it easy on the roads!By the time we get through this week, much of Green Country will see another 2 to 3 inches of rain. All of Green Country is under a Flood Watch into Thursday. And there are several river flood warnings in place, with likely more to come!Much of the state has seen severe wind/hail and flooding this week. Tuesday morning there was a confirmed tornado in northern Tulsa county, just southwest of Collinsville.

    There is an elevated risk for severe storms tonight for much of Green Country. Storms should approach our western viewing area around sunset. Tonight's tornado threat is low, but a few tornadoes cannot be ruled out, especially west of Tulsa. Storms should continue into Tuesday morning. Periods of rain and storms are likely through the day on Tuesday. Severe wind/hail and flooding will be a threat across much of Green Country on Tuesday. The tornado threat on Tuesday will be very low.

    Precipitation chances will be high for the first half of this week, beginning Monday night. precip chances this week.jpgThe rain totals will add up to 1 to 3 inches through Wednesday. Due to recent rain, and the current rain forecast, the excessive rainfall outlook shows much of the state could experience flooding early in the week. A few showers and t-storms are possible Monday afternoon. And these storms will have an elevated risk of being severe as we head into the evening.
