MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – In an announcement Wednesday, Planned Parenthood of Michigan is announcing the closure of three of their locations. Their Marquette, Petoskey, and Jackson locations are set to close on April 30, and the last patients will be seen on April 25. According to their press release, the closures are in response to reduced federal funding by the Trump administration and an effort to continue the organization’s long-term sustainability.

LITTLE LAKE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Two people are reported dead after police discovered their bodies while performing a wellness check on January 30 at a home in Little Lake. According to the Forsyth Township Police Department, they were able to force themselves in and found the deceased, one of them with a stab wound. Evidence shows it was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public. Police are not releasing any other information at the this time and the investigation is ongoing.

ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Escanaba Department of Public Safety is reporting two people have died in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of North Lincoln and Danforth Road. According to the report, a Dodge Ram Truck pulling a snowmobile trailer hit a Subaru attempting to turn west onto Danforth. The driver and passenger of the Subaru were pronounced dead at the scene while all four in the truck were taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

LAKE LINDEN, Mich. (WZMQ) – A Lake Linden man is facing multiple charges for allegedly stealing gasoline from the Department of Public Works for years. After an investigation, 71-year-old Ronald Schmitt was arraigned on Wednesday. It was revealed Schmitt had been using a key fob meant for fueling department vehicles on his own vehicle since he retired 12 years ago. It’s estimated he stole around $28,000 worth of gasoline over that time.
