    GAINES TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A motorcyclist has died after a crash near Caledonia Sunday. The Kent County Sheriff’s Office said around 5:22 p.m., deputies with the Kent County Sheriff’s Office were sent to a crash involving a motorcycle and a minivan, both headed north on Kalamazoo Avenue north of 100th Street in Gaines Township. A 26-year-old Allendale man who was driving the motorcycle died from his injuries, deputies said. A 41-year-old Caledonia woman driving the minivan had minor injuries.

    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A West Michigan nonprofit is celebrating decades providing financial assistance to those with disabilities. The Arc Kent County is an organization dedicated to helping those with disabilities pay their bills, manage their finances and make sure they aren’t being taken advantage of. It offers ways for individuals to advocate for themselves and be financially responsible and independent, former board member Scott Carano and Executive Director Tammy Finn said.

    MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — A Muskegon man has been hospitalized after being hit by a car on Tuesday, police say. The Muskegon Police Department responded to a crash involving a car and a pedestrian at the intersection of Laketon Avenue and Wood Street around 7 p.m. on Tuesday. A 55-year-old pedestrian was found with severe injuries, police say. They say the Muskegon man was brought to a local hospital where he underwent surgery for a head injury.

(WOOD) — The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development wants to remind hosts to keep food safety at the forefront ahead of spring holiday celebrations like Easter and Passover. The department says handwashing can reduce rates of respiratory and gastrointestinal infections. Hands should be washed with soap and warm water before, during and after preparing food, after using the restroom or blowing your nose.

    FENNVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) — The Allegan County Sheriff’s office is asking the public to avoid stretches of road in Fennville and Clyde Township. The sheriff’s office says deputies and Michigan State Police Troopers responded to reports of a major natural gas line leak around 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Clyde and Fennville Fire Departments are determining the affected areas of the leak and the gas company has been made aware. Technicians are on the way to make repairs.
